“How Do You Pray?”
Matthew 6:9-13
As followers of Jesus, prayer is one of the most difficult things we are called to. It’s difficult because it’s a faith proposition. We often see nothing. It’s difficult because we often don’t know how to pray; what to say. Then, of course it’s difficult because of the ongoing war within of knowing we need to pray and the enemy fighting against us to keep us from prayer.
Jesus begins by giving us some keys for engaging in prayer:
- “Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name”
- “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Let’s dissect this further and ask: how do we pray so that our praying is both spiritual and practical?
- Give us _______________ ________________
- Grant us _______________ as we also ________________
- Guard us from _____________ and _____________ us from evil
