“Obituary of a Dying Church”
Revelation 3:1-6
Ephesus: Love for Jesus must never take a backseat to anything.
Smyrna: Faithfulness must never falter when suffering happens.
Pergamum: Compromise must never happen no matter what culture dictates.
Thyatira: Tolerance toward Biblically intolerable issues will never be Biblically tolerable.
Sardis: Death called by any other name is still death.
The church at Sardis gave the appearance of life—but according to Jesus they were dead. Jesus gave 5 strong commands to this church, which speak to many churches today.
- Wake up! Revelation 3:2 Death in the future comes from living in the past!
- Strengthen what remains! Revelation 3:2b Tighten core values but remain flexible on methods!
